We really enjoyed our stay. The views and feel of the house were wonderful. Bless was so kind and helpful. Thanks Len!
I must admit my family and I were skeptical of the property when we first approached Bamboo Road. The ride was bumpy and seemed hazardous but once we reached the top that was all forgotten! Zandoli was beautiful! The open floor plan, the spacious suites, the crystal clear pool and the breathtaking views. Velda has the villa spotless. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and an awesome tour guide. Our host Len was always available and super responsive even though there was a six hour time difference between us. We will definitely visit over and over again and Zandoli will always be our choice! MARVELOUS ZANDOLI!!
We are so happy that our guests who visit Zandoli love the villa and enjoy their stay. Thank you so much for your lovely review !!
I've stayed in many VRBO properties around the world....and Zandoli was absolutely the best property I've ever utilized. Hands down. It is absolutely unique. Len was the consummate professional in arranging our stay -- very punctual, informative and pleasant. She supplied us (my wife and I) with very detailed information on the home, the surrounding areas and attractions of interest. The maid was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating. The pictures of this home on VRBO do not do it justice -- it's so much more than pictures can adequately convey. We were able to utilize a secure back gate on the property to walk down to Sandals and the local beach (which has fantastic beachside small restaurants). I would highly recommend utilizing Chris (her recommended driver) for any and all of your travels. Chris picked us up from a Sandals property and delivered us to Zandoli, after a brief stop at a local grocery store for provisions, and took us to the property and was extremely gracious. I inquired about seeing some of the island the following day and he stated "no problem, mon". And he certainly delivered. We had a 7-hour tour of some of the most beautiful attractions on the island. We went to local eateries (not tourist attractions) for a leisurely lunch and a cocktail. We went to the mud baths, some fantastic overlooks, we sampled local banana rum (and ketchup....yes, banana ketchup), we viewed the rain forest with a beautiful waterfall and we were able to make it back in time to grill and chill by the pool at Zandoli. The pool is fantastic, with breathtaking views, and VERY secluded. We asked Chris to take us back to the airport the next day...and it was a beautiful ride, with another leisurely lunch and cocktail on the way. I can't say enough good things about Zandoli. Seriously. We will definitely be taking friends and family back to this beautiful home in the near future!
Thank you Layne. What a wonderful review! My most important priority is to ensure that our guests are comfortable and happy, and have a wonderful visit with us at Zandoli, and indeed, our lovely island, St Lucia. I am therefore really happy that you both enjoyed your stay, and humbled by your very gracious comments. I share credit with my small team: Velda, my wonderful housekeeper; my property manager, our gardeners and pool staff, and the plumber, electrician and maintenance guys who make up our crew. They work tirelessly to ensure that Zandoli is always fresh, and clean and ready for each of our guests. I also count on the discernment of my guests and their openness to embracing the concept around which Zandoli was designed and their willingness to explore a different culture and environment. In designing the villa, I wanted Zandoli to celebrate the stunning views and the beauty of the natural landscape - so each room is designed with these two factors in mind - floor to ceiling windows and doors to frame the panoramas outside - and large decks and patios to create a sense of seamlessness between outside and indoors. We live in the tropics; this means that birds will engage in birdsong early in the morning, and inspect our decks from time to time. We are very close to the sea, so our guests will go to sleep with the sound of waves on sandy beaches. Our guests who choose to stay with us, love the sense of this connectedness with nature, and the rustic, island-style quality of the villa and consider these to be part of its sensual charm. In designing Zandoli, I also wanted the villa to appeal to those who want to experience the relaxed and laid-back beauty of island living. I am therefore thrilled when our guests express the very sentiments which we strive for during their stay - the sense of living in harmony with nature; the tranquility and peace of the property, its sense of romance and escape from the maddening crowds - all in a simply stunning setting. Thank you Layne. You captured the essence of the villa during your stay. I am so happy that it resonated with you both, and look forward to being your host again, sometime in the future.
The property is beautiful and the owner, Lem, was wonderful to communicate with. I appreciate her responsiveness before, during and after our booking of her home. My family of 4 enjoyed our stay; however; we would have done things a little different if we had known a little more about St. Lucia.
Pros - home is absolutely beautiful and has a lot of character. The outside living space is great and where we spent a lot of our time. The views are amazing! The master bedrooms on the top floor were great and the bathrooms were amazing. We loved the open air showers. We did not use the lower level.
The drive to the house is very rough, but we knew that going into it. Lem was very upfront about the drive and there is nothing she can do about that. While the drive to the house is rough it is worth it for the views which are amazing!!
The walk to the beach is longer than what we anticipated and unfortunately it had rained a lot so we were told that we should not walk to the beach due to all the mud. Plus, the beach chairs and portable cooler were broken so we weren't able to use them. I shared this with Lem and she apologized and said she'd take care of it for the next guests.
No air condition - We knew this before we rented the home and thought we would be ok, but we did not anticipate the number of bugs and birds that would fly into the house. You do get use to it, but it was something we hadn't experienced in the past. There were a lot of beetles and unfortunately they took over the pool at night. The filter wasn't working the best during our stay, but Lem had someone come to ensure everything was working ok. I would recommend adding a few more portable fans for the home.
Even though I've listed some cons of our trip I would still recommend this house. The island of St. Lucia is beautiful and there is a lot to do. We've rented many homes from VRBO and Lem is definitely a great owner. She is quick to respond and was honest in the information she provided. The pros of the villa outweigh the cons.
"Paradise Found: I've stayed in many VRBO properties around the world....and Zandoli was absolutely the best property I've ever utilized. Hands down. It is absolutely unique." This review was received by our guests - Layne and his wife who visited with us from July 29th 2019 - about 4 weeks after Jen and her family's visit. Rather than recite his entire review, I kindly suggest that readers look at that review among the many others. I thank Jen for her review and appreciate the assessment of her stay. I value each and every one of our guests and constantly look for ways in which we can meet every expectation. However, travelers have varying needs and expectations, a point which I emphasize in my response to Layne’s wonderful review. I wanted Zandoli to celebrate the stunning views and the beauty of the natural tropical landscape; it was designed with this in mind. But the reality of living on a small island means that parts do have to be flown in by FEDX since local stocks might be limited. We live in the tropics; this means that birds will inquisitively fly around our decks and patios from time to time. Our multi-tiered roof is very high and constructed in wooden shingles and rafters, and eaves are open to allow the villa to stay cool naturally; windows are louvered; rooms are equipped with large ceiling and standing fans - all elements designed to move the sea breezes throughout the villa and keep it comfortable. Consequently, our guest reviews do not cite air circulation to be an issue. Our pool is located in lush gardens and serviced twice per week so that it is sparkling and clear. We keep a long-handled pool scooper/net handy, poolside, to quickly scoop out any flowers, leaves or other things which may get into the water. As a courtesy to our guests, we provide a small cooler and a couple of folding chairs for beach use. These had been damaged through regular usage and were immediately replaced. Most of our guests love the sense of this connectedness with nature, and the rustic, island-style quality of the villa and consider these to be part of its sensual charm. I appreciate Jen’s sense that the experience might have been a bit too close to nature for her, but I am always buoyed by the positive feedback which we receive from so many guests who love the ability to experience island living, in a relaxed, tranquil, and exquisitely natural and private setting.
Fantastic villa and views!
Three of us stayed at the villa for 6 nights. We only used the bedrooms on the top floor and it was great to all have so much space. The views are spectacular and we are all missing waking up to them. We spent a lot of time on the top deck and by the pool making the most of the scenery. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we could not have wanted for anything else. Although we spent most of the time outside, the lounge and dining room deserves a mention as this is also a fantastic space. The only negative is the road but this was clear when we booked. We used a local taxi guy Chris to drive us out and about - he was great and picked us up from the front door. Len was a great host, she always responded quickly and went above and beyond helping us out. Would highly recommend!
It is always lovely when our guests take the time to compliment us on their stay. It means that we must be doing something right. Thank you Rebecca! It was wonderful to host you, and we so appreciated your visit. Mention is made of our road - fortunately the unpaved section is only 500 meters, and noted on our website. Interestingly, however, many of our guests have commented that the stunning views on arrival to the property are incredible rewards to compensate for the short ride. A recent guest called the views 'jaw dropping'. Indeed, it was the pull of these awesome views that pushed me to purchase this acreage and build the villa and cottage. Guests have also noted another benefit of our location at the end of the road - other vehicles do not pass by - making Zandoli a real refuge, an oasis of tranquility and peace from which to watch the world go by, from any of the many decks and patios, or the pool, and every single room. I guess every downside, has its upside; this is our silver lining :)
Six of us stayed at Villa Zandoli for 11 days at the end of February / beginning of March. It was our first time booking on Homeaway and not staying at a resort. We could not have been happier. The pictures shown did not even do it justice. The views were gorgeous, the layout of the house was perfect, the privacy, everything was just great. While the road up to the villa is rough, we were prepared and find that it added to the charm and made it feel even more private. The location is close enough to everything from the restaurants and shops in Gros Islet to the different beaches in the area.
The owner Len was quick to reply to all our questions and had some great suggestions for us. If returning to St Lucia, this is where we would stay for sure!
Thank you Len!
