My husband & I really did have a lovely stay while on the island! The location and size of this particular beach home rental, was perfect for us and our two Boxers! Super conveniently located while amazingly quiet at the same time! We could hear the ocean waves at night while we hung out in the pool, which was lovely! The home was adequately stocked of the basic necessities and the WiFi, A/C, along w/W & D all worked wonderfully! It really is a quaint home!
The only, I guess, concerns we had w/this property are that of; the rooftop deck and stairs to get there. They’re not safe. There were nails coming up through the base of the stairs and the stairs do not seem properly spaced. The deck itself, no furniture, just an all heat-seeking black roofed area that again, had nails popping up and it didn’t feel safe, so we avoided it completely after the “let’s check it out!” visit. We spent zero time up there and that made me sad. I was really looking forward to that space, especially as a Photographer. The other biggest item was the MSTRBTH. The flooring/tub area is absolutely horrible! We only used the sink area (w/towels to stand on) for fear of the “unknown” in the flooring that is all coming up! Not a good look whatsoever! The kitchen, albeit super cute and well sized, it too needs roofing repairs as there is a hole w/pieces of like, wood material (I guess) that we’d find on the counter the next morning, esp after a couple nights of storms. Also, there were ants. My husband and I overlooked and cleaned up any mess because, we just didn’t want our time interrupted w/having to call this person or that. It was just easier. Overall, we really loved our stay, but for the money we paid, we feel as though NONE of the above mentioned repairs, should be something I’m mentioning. This home needs some major TLC. The pool is lovely, but the filtering equipment needs to be running longer into the night than it does, especially since there are only two small jets to keep the water moving. The back & side yard were completely unusable space for our Boxers. Updated photos of the entire property absolutely need to be offered to ALL potential guests. For sure the photos listed now, are old. All this being said, my husband and I would return for another stay AFTER all repairs have been completed properly and that of new, time stamped images are made available.
EDIT: after inspecting the home the only above claim that was present was the damage to the ceiling..The top deck is repaired back to the original standards and the back bathroom has an older tile on the floor. This home is priced accordingly and advertised accurately. The above manifesto is not an actual representation of my home. I take pride in maintaining the homes while constantly making updates. I look forward to updating this home in my upcoming off season. Any questions please feel free to ping me
WOW- thanks for being so in depth and for not reaching out to me with concerns during your stay to give me the opportunity to fix them or the knowledge that they were present. The island was hit hard by a hurricane last year and the top deck was damaged, as far as I was aware the deck was repaired back to the original shape and should have had a bench rebuilt. The roof was replaced 3 weeks ago and I was made aware of a hole in the kitchen. Well- now. The pool equipment is code for that size pool and the pool is cleaned 2 times a week.
The house was definitely dated with some issues .
We were only there 2 nights but enjoyed our stay. The bathrooms definitely need some updating. We might not have enjoyed it as much if we had stayed the week. The pool was awesome! I did appreciate the old charm of the house. Just a few minor updates would make it better!
The house was built in 1942 and as stated it is not extravagant. Thanks for the 5 star and I can assure you the longer stays are just as enjoyable. Hurricane Michael are my upgrade budget.
The property needs a great deal of structural work.
I would not stay there again.
I would rather not host you again in the future. You are one of the most inconsiderate and bothersome guests I have had the misfortune to work with. I spent countless hours emailing with you and your wife trying to accommodate your demands and in the end you were just impossible to please. Good luck in the future and please do not darken my home again
The island is a great spot to vacation! The house was less than 2 min walk to the beach. The pool was nice. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking. Has a large washer and dryer. I think my only issue would be that this is the first vacation house I have ever stayed in that didn't have spices, coffee, trash bags, etc left over from the previous occupants. Everyone courtesy leave random thing for the next people. There was nothing. Cleaned out. The most important thing to remember about staying in St. George Island thought, you MUST eat at Paddy's Raw Bar! Two Gulls is a very unique beach shop. Very cool place.
sorry for the delay- thank you so much for the wonderful review- it is always important to hear nice things about your hard work. Have a great fall
Families with 4+ kids
Clean with plenty of beds and a darling pool just perfect for several small children. If updated home is what you are looking to find, this one may not be the one for you. If a beautiful time at the beach aimed at making precious memories, this is the perfect place for you.
Thank you for your thoughtful review and for recognizing we are trying to offer an old Florida feel. Hurricane at a bit of my upgrade budge.
Great Location, Wonderful Pool
The Siesta Key house is in a great location with only a short trek to the beach. The pool was refreshing. Biggest issue was no rugs by the doors to help limit the sand coming into the house.
Where do those rugs go??? It's always a mystery, I buy new rugs, comforters and kitchen supplies every season they usually last longer than this. I do appreciate the feed back and will send some via Amazon today. Thank you
