Overall positive experience with a few minor problems
The kitchen supplies were somewhat lacking. There wasn’t any dish soap, and there was not enough dishwasher detergent. Overall everything was great though; the property was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the property was conveniently located near a good ski resort.
Cozy and clean
My boys and I were so excited when we arrived. It was clean and a great spot in the entrance of the woods. It was peaceful and quiet. Well equipped with necessities for cooking, baking and BBQ-ing. Tv’s are old and there was spider webs but overall it was a great place (not too cluttered) and a great price. The property management was awesome too. Can’t wait to do it again!
It’s a very nice and confortable house, I only wish it would have WiFi available
Great house for big groups or families, I definitely would recommend it!
Clean but sparse - except for the deer heads
This was a comfortable cabin and was very clean. Updated finishes in bathrooms and kitchen, carpet was plush and seemed clean. There are not any family decorations or knick-knacks except for two prominently displayed stuffed deer heads. Kitchen utensils were adequate but not new. The dining table had only 4 chairs; three more tall chairs at counter; any remaining guests would use TV trays at the couch.
The rental payment was not through VRBO, but is administered by a local resort agency (Tahoe Keys Resort). Booking and cleaning fees seemed higher than other private-party VRBO rentals. Plan to drive all the way into South Lake Tahoe to the main resort office to pick up keys.
Room layout: two bedrooms downstairs are very private. The third room upstairs is an open loft with four twin beds on one side and a queen on the other. Be warned that it is completely open to ground floor living room/kitchen area below. It could be difficult to get young children to go to sleep upstairs in this loft if others are still playing games or watching tv below. Speaking of TV - there was no wifi as of Feb 2018.
The area around the cabin was nice for kids to play in the snow. The back yard slopes down away from the house (a little steep, but was a good sled run), and there's a trail at the bottom that leads through the forest to a nice view of surrounding mountains.
