Definitely Would Stay Here Again
Everything about the place was lovely. A perfect place to stay.
Unique place to stay. Jeff was very accommodating. He was always there to help and offer suggestions. Gave us more space than your typical hotel room. Would recommend staying here.
Great property for mom with 2 teens in tow. Could have comfortably housed 1 more. Will definitely be coming back.
Quaint cute old home in historic setting on the sound
A historic renovated divided home on Mt Sinai harbor on the north shore of Long Island near Port Jefferson- great for history buffs, North Fork wine seekers, kayakers and small town charm enthusiasts. Cozy and comfortable, we enjoyed the location and recent renovation efforts of the home. For the area, it is very reasonably priced as compared to more luxurious but expensive alternatives. Ceiling fans kept the rooms cool even in the heavy heat and humidity of a NY summer week. The king bed downstairs with quality linens made for restful evenings. Though close to a larger road, the evenings and nights were quiet. The screened in porch makes a wonderful breakfast nook, and the outside seating area makes a great place for evening tea. While vegetative overgrowth prohibits a view of the harbor across the street, the sea sounds, smells and birds are a reminder of its close proximity, which can be easily confirmed by a short walk to water access. The rental includes kayaks, which would likely be an ideal way to explore the surrounding bay, if only time had permitted. While we only had 2 adults stay, there was an additional bedroom and sleeping areas on the upper level that could accommodate older children or teens. Access to upper level is via a narrow spiral staircase that my older in-laws who toured the rental refused to climb, as did 3 of the other 5 visiting family through the week, but the 4 year old loved it- making his mother concerned for his safety... (I don't recommend those stairs for claustrophobics, the unbalanced, the elderly, young children or even larger folks, otherwise fine for active folks) . We were content with lower level living having all the amenities we needed downstairs. (The bathroom is also on the lower level). The home is clean but not new construction clean, and some signs of age and wear are visible, (and modern living reveals a lack of convenient plugs for electronics). This is all part of an older home's unique charms, but could be off-putting if one prefers the pristine appearance and vacuum sealing sterile environment of a newer home that has been modernized.
The owner, though absent, offered easy communication, and was pleasant and accommodating. We would not hesitate to return in the future, and look forward to further restoration of the historic and charming property.
beautiful large apartment, great host
We (family of 3) stayed at the apartment for a longer period and immediately felt at home. It is very spacious and beautiful and has access to a private patio and the garden of the house. Fully and tastefully furnished, everything provided for a comfortable stay. Very close to the shore, with lots of nature around, but also close to Port Jefferson. And, not to forget, Jeff was a wonderful host, extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a stay on Long Island!
